Operational Risk & Safety Officer

Key Responsibilities
• OSH Management System: Implement and maintain the Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) management system in compliance with OSHA 1994 and FMA 1967 (Factories and Machinery Act) .
• International Standards Compliance:
o Support the maintenance and continuous improvement of ISO 45001:2018 (Occupational Health & Safety) and ISO 28000:2022 (Supply Chain Security Management Systems) .
o Work towards compliance with TAPA (Transported Asset Protection Association) standards, including Trucking Security Requirements (TSR) and Facility Security Requirements (FSR) , to protect high-value cargo from theft and criminal attacks .
o Assist in preparing for internal and external audits related to ISO 9001 (Quality), ISO 14001 (Environmental Management), and client-specific security requirements.

• Warehouse Operations Safety:
o Conduct regular inspections of forklifts (MHE) , pallet racking, and firefighting equipment.
o Ensure safe chemical handling (if applicable) and compliance with CLASS regulations.
o Monitor pedestrian and forklift segregation to prevent workplace incidents.
o Implement physical security protocols aligned with TAPA FSR requirements, including access control, CCTV coverage, and intrusion detection.
• Fleet & Transport Safety:
o Manage driver behavior and safety through telematics systems (e.g., speeding, harsh braking).
o Conduct vehicle spot checks and ensure compliance with JPJ (Road Transport Department) requirements, including driver hours and vehicle roadworthiness.
o Assist in Route Risk Assessments for delivery schedules.
o Implement TAPA Trucking Security Requirements (TSR) for high-value shipments, including GPS tracking, geo-fencing, and secure parking protocols.
• HIRARC & Risk Management: Lead the Hazard Identification, Risk Assessment, and Risk Control (HIRARC) process for all operational activities. Conduct supply chain security risk assessments in line with ISO 31000 risk management principles.
• Incident Investigation & Reporting: Lead internal investigations for any accidents, near misses, cargo theft, or property damage. Prepare detailed reports for submissions and client security incident reports as required.
• Training & Awareness: Conduct safety inductions, toolbox meetings, and emergency response drills (e.g., fire drills). Train staff on safe manual handling techniques, security awareness, and TAPA compliance requirements.
• Compliance & Documentation: Maintain the OSH legal register, safety data sheets (SDS), and ensure all equipment inspections are up to date. Maintain security documentation for ISO and TAPA audits.
